"Two years ago, I introduced a private member’s bill to designate Winter Wellness Day every year as an opportunity for our youth to stay active and stay healthy. This year, Winter Wellness Day falls on Friday, Feb. 17.
"Physical activity is a vital part of everyone’s overall well-being and also contributes to our mental well-being. That’s why students across the Island will be participating in 20 minutes of physical activity in schools to mark Winter Wellness Day and contribute to their own health.
"Staying active can be more challenging in the winter months, but I encourage Islanders to take time out not only this Friday, but at anytime, to do something active. It can be as simple as taking a short walk, as even a few minutes of regular physical activity can improve our health. Find an activity that you enjoy and make it a way to get closer with family and friends by spending time together.
"I wish all Islanders a happy and healthy Winter Wellness Day!"
